I'm all too familiar with marginal hard drives, and shrimpy RAM. I don't know about your camera, I just dropped in to see what I might learn. I think this would be the easiest to fix and test at home - using darks - before you worry about network issues.

What I'm saying is if there is not enough HD space available for swap files you could have a memory problem that could cause your problem. Also Windows uses maybe 15% of your total HD space for its auto defragmentation although I don't know when it would use that. It used to be - probably still is - that you should allow twice your RAM memory for swap files. With only 2GB of memory swap files will probably be used. Remember if you start with 10GB you don't have all that available.

I have all of the programs necessary to run SGP including all the files for local astrometry as well as all the files for 3 scope sizes for platesolve2 plus a copy of CDC. I think the easiest thing to check first is your HD space. They advertise this feature but I haven't tried it. I think Chrome remote desktop works over an add hoc network as well but even so, you would have to add the Chrome browser, so I'd probably stay with Splashtop. I would probably just set up an add hoc network and communicate using Splashtop. I'm not familiar with Connectify so I can't comment on the memory it would use. What I noticed was that SGP consumed more and more memory with each sub or autofocus exposure if I had it enabled. Yes, you will loose the continuous measurement graph, but it was no issue for me as I use autofocus anyway and it was only for my geeky inside I actually wanted to have it displayed. If you have the problem only after a set amount of images I recommend you DISABLE the image history in SGP which caused the problem for me. I have all my stuff attached to one of the 2 hubs. I attach my stick to a Starteck powered USB hub which is attached to another StarTeck powered USB hub.

After each session I save my images and clear the stick to get about 15GB free again. However, I think I have about 15GB free when I start imaging. Unfortunately, I'm away from home for a few days so I can't give you all my exact settings.

I'm currently running SGP 2.6.0.23 and I haven't updated the ASCOM drivers for awhile. On the other hand I've taken many hundreds of subs since 2.6.0.17 ranging from 90 seconds to 10 minutes without a single 'fail to save image'. Since I only lose the odd flat, I haven't really worried about it. I think the ASI1600 processes very short exposures differently than longer ones. However, I get the odd 'fail to save image' when taking flats. I use one of those 2GB RAM sticks to run SGP with an ASI1600mm-c and I have never had a problem with 'fail to save image' - since 2.6.0.17 - when taking subs.
